XR Brisbane West

Extinction Rebellion Brisbane West (XR-BW) is based in the western suburbs of Brisbane which houses the iconic Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary as well Mt Coot-tha and the associated Brisbane Botanical Gardens.

At the initial meeting of the XR-BW group (3rd September 2019) – it was agreed what the mandate/authority for the way the group to act against climate change would be.

We at Brisbane West, generally see our role as a group that leverages XR SEQ with the primary aim of building the numbers of concerned citizens in the western suburbs who wish to take action on the climate emergency.

We are aiming to create a visible, cross section of people representative of the broader community within the western suburbs. The group will participate in both local and wider actions instigated autonomously or by XR SEQ.

To achieve the goal of building numbers we believe that both “green” (i.e. safe) and red actions should be undertaken. Furthermore we place an emphasis on connecting with the public at each action to promote our Brisbane West talks and activities.
